202501 SHIFTING GROUNDS
SHIFTING GROUNDS is an essay film told from the perspective of peat, a landscape formed by water, time and slow decay. The film follows the story of wetlands from the last Ice Age to the present and shows how they have changed through human activity.
It looks at how people drained wetlands, built infrastructure on them and turned carbon-rich soils into sources of emissions. At the same time, it reflects on how these damaged landscapes are now being cared for again. As nature and technology, city and wetland become more connected, the film asks what can still grow in places that are no longer untouched, but not yet lost.
SHIFTING GROUNDS is part of the production NEULAND and acts as the starting point for the live performance.
